It's normal that in wars, humans make new weapons and improvements. In World War One machine guns, tanks, better airplanes and dangerous gases were made.
There were many different gases but some of them are:
- Blaukreuz: it irritates the upper respiratory tract, it causes vomiting.
- Grünkreuz: it effects the lungs.
- Gelbkreuz: it causes blisters and burns.
- Weisskreuz: it effects the eyes, lungs and mucous membranes *the nose*.
During the war they also got better and better gas’s masks, to protect against these gases. .
Before they made machine guns they used normal pistols. The bombs had different colors, the colors showed which bomb it was. The colors were: yellow, grey, brown, red, black and orange. The red ones were the most dangerous ones, while the grey ones were the weakest.
