Christmas 1914 was the only Christmas the soldiers didn’t fight. They had a truce, and got up from the trench, and met in no man's land. They played football and sang Christmas songs. They had such a great time, but the next day they were fighting again.

The bosses were really not happy that the soldiers were friends. They wanted to stop it right now. They wanted war! They didn’t get to stop the Christmas celebration the first year, but they stopped it the other years. The bosses didn’t want to have a Christmas celebration because they hated each other.
